团圆饭 2009!

Paternal Family’s Reunion Dinner at Dempsey’s Long Beach last night.

Honestly, it’s disappointing. The $5000+ was not at all worth it. (Before adding all the soft drinks, fruit juices, coconuts etc.) Apart from the Alaska King Crabs, every other dish tasted normal. What’s costed so much was the $300+ per Crab, each table have 2, with a total of 8 Crabs for dinner. That's almost half the bill.

Quite a no. of the family members were not here for the dinner. Spread across different parts of the world. Only 44 of us that night. And happily, our table only had 9! How evil. The parents were coming over one-by-one to check out if we had any leftovers since they have like 11 or 12 per table. Sadly, nothing much went over to them because we finished almost everything except the Hor Fun.

So, we had Sharks Fin, Bamboo Clams, Prawns, Alaska King Crabs – White Pepper and Steamed, Fish, Vegetable, Fried Yam, Banana and Scallop thingy, Hor Fun, and Dessert.

We had no lobster and abalone this year. Booo! Nevermind, shall wait for our “Abalone Buffet” on Chinese New Year’s dinner. ((:

So much for wanting a different taste, choosing seafood, and it turned out bad. No, probably it’s only our table. Cause Da Gu said their fish tasted really delicious with soft and smooth meat while ours tasted quite bad, rough and hard.

Anyway, apart from the food itself, the service sucks too! Damn. Really lousy.

I would still vote for last year’s Lei Garden at CHIJMES as the best restaurant we went to for our reunion dinner.

Half way through dinner, we came out with something cool. Hui suggested voting for the “Most Lookalike Siblings”. Here it goes,

Pair #1

Pair #2

Pair #3

Pair #4

After all the votings, they won! ((:

Left hurriedly at about 9 to meet up with Daniel, Ziming, Shi Shi, Ahbao and Oliver to celebrate Daniel’s birthday part II. I’m still feeling quite bad that the 7 of us had to leave for dinner leaving them to Left4Dead at Cyberdome themselves. So sorry. Continued with the usual cake-cutting “ceremony” up at Dempsey’s Ben&Jerrys. ((:

Before the reunion dinner, headed over to Tiong Bahru Plaza after church for Sakae Sushi and “The Haunting of Molly Hartley”, quite a lousy show, not really advisable to watch it.

Pictures uploaded on Facebook. It’s so much faster than blogger does.
